4U1UN IN THE CQWW SSB CONTEST. A press release from Martti, OH2BH, states:
"A six-man team of NN1N, KR2Q, PY5EG, JK3GAD, OH0XX and OH2BH will be
participating in the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest in the two-transmitter
category providing this DXCC entity and unique multiplier to a large
group of their fellow hams globally. The station has a few new antennas.
They include a SteppIR Vertical, a Butternut vertical for 40, 80 and 160

A35, TONGA (News and Contest Ops). Paul Kidd, well-unknown as A35RK,
informs OPDX that he has been thinking about if-and-when to use his
special A35A. Paul states, "I had the initial impression that A35A was
restricted to contest/special event use. But that's not the case....it's
a regular every-day callsign, now that the rules have been changed. I
had a chat this morning with Fe'ao Vakata (the radio licensing officer)
about this, and here's what he said: It is his intention to issue A31x
callsigns for visiting contest and special event operations. Basically,
that prefix block is reserved for 'groups', not individuals. The A31xx
block is reserved for other short-term visitors, yachties, etc. The
A35x and A35xx blocks are intended for resident operators, like me. When
he issued me the A35A license, it was with the understanding that I
could use it any way I choose....as a 'regular' call, or as a special
event/contest call. Fe'ao said that it's entirely up to me, and he has
no objections to my using it anyway I want to. Therefore.....Effective
immediately, A35A will be my 'fulltime' callsign....for DXing, contests,
ragchewing, the whole coconut. HI......
QTH remains the same: Lifuka Island, Ha'apai Group, IOTA OC-169
QSL A35A via W7TSQ, W7 Bureau, or LoTW (No direct mail to Tonga,
