4U1, ITU HQ (Topband Activity). A report from RSGB President Colin Thomas,
G3PSM, states: "4U1ITU will be active during the CQWW CW Contest at the
end of November and there will be a 160m operation. Currently there is no
160m operation due to the very high noise level from computers both from
within the main ITU building itself, but also from surrounding inter-
national organizations. It is understood that a Titanex V160 has been
promised from a Japanese source, and it is hoped that time can be found
during the week preceding the contest to get the antenna up on the flat
roof of the 5 storey Varembe building. However, most of the operators
and helpers will be taking part in WRC-12 preparatory meetings during
that week. A Multi Single operation is currently planned for the contest."
4W, TIMOR-LESTE. By the time you read this, Al, 4W6AL (CT1GPQ), will be

has updated the log and it can be found on: http://algarvedx.com
6Y1V YOUNG HAM EASSAY DEADLINE (September 30th). David, KY1V, reports
on September 26th: "In just four short days we will be selecting 4 young
hams to join us this year for CQWW at 6Y1V. We are very excited this
year as we have received essays from every continent, from age 9 through
21, and from both boys and girls! I have previewed many of the essays
and I can already say it is going to be very difficult to select just 4
young hams. If you wish to be considered for this years' CQWW SSB or CW
contest, you have only 4 days to submit your essay. I would like to thank
all of the young hams that sent essays this year and their parents for
putting their trust and faith in Stacy, Krassy and I. Please be sure to
work the all Young Ham 6Y1V station in CQWW this year!"
E21, THAILAND. Tinkon, E21NPZ/8, will be active during the CQWW DX SSB
Contest (October 24-25th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m)/Low-Power
entry. QSL via E21NPZ.
EA8, CANARY ISLANDS. Operators Jean/ON5JV and Georgette/ON6AK will be
active as EA8/homecall from Tijoco Bajo, Tenerife Island (AF-004) between
November 20th and February 10th (2010). Activity will be on 40-10 meters
during their evenings. They plan to use 100 watts into a vertical 14AVQ.
QSL via their home callsigns, the bureau is preferred.
FK, NEW CALEDONIA. Akira, JA1NLX, (along with his XYL) will once again
head to the Pacific, but this time he will be active from Ouvea Island
(OC-033), the biggest island in the Loyalty Islands Group, between November
19-23rd. His callsign will be FK/JA1NLX. Activity will be on all HF bands
(80-10 meters) using CW and RTTY with a IC-706MK2 100 watt transceiver
and vertical antenna. QSL via the LoTW or by his home callsign, direct
or by the Bureau. For more details and log after his operation, visit

FT/G, GLORIOSO ISLAND (Update). The FT5GA team continues to be on the
air and is trying to satisfy the international Ham radio community. As
of September 27th, they have made over 26.6k QSOs with 9.4k unique
callsigns (12885/CW, 11676/SSB and 2070/RTTY). The team has had some
problems with radios (two transceivers went down out of the four they
had, but one was repaired). FT5GA was active during the CQWW DX RTTY
Contest this past weekend. Still most stateside stations report that
the FT5GA signals are very weak and propagation is not helping.
Operations will last until October 5th, as per the Web page at:
http://glorieuses2008.free.fr
QSL Manager is F5OGL: Didier Senmartin, P.O. Box 7, F-53320 LOIRON,
FRANCE. Online log is available at: http://www.clublog.org/charts/?c=FT5GA
