3B8, MAURITIUS (AF-049). Luc, I3LDP, will be active from here between Jun 29th and July 11th. The callsign was not provided. Activity will be on the HF bands and 6 meters using CW and SSB. His equipment will be an Icom IC-7000, a vertical for 40-10m and a vertical dipole for 6m. Grid Loc. is LG89vt. QSL via his home callsign. ADDED NOTE: Luc plans to look for a good location for an EME operation next year (2010).

6M REPORT (Hearing 6m DX): [edited] "Greetings -- After I predicted the
6m summer Sporatic E's season to begin on 7th June 2009, it appears the
season has started in FN20 as of 10th June 2009, for the low power
operators. At 8pm I was working EM 26-40-46-70 in La, Al, and Fl, with
100 watts and a thrown up 2 element Quad. On June 11th, I was hearing
Costa Rica and Fla. On June 12th, at 6pm I was working YV4, HI3, PJ2,
and Fla with many strong signals on the band. On June 15th, I was working
into W1 land FN30, FN31 and FN41 at the end of the VHF contest. On June
16th, at 4pm I began working Fla and Ala along with J39BS Grenada, ON4IQ,
HI3TEJ, VP2M and WP4 stations, all with S9 signals into FN20. On Thursday,
18th June, at 3pm I began working into EM 32-63-64-74-82-94-95....AL, GA,
NC and SC. The band started out short to SC, NC and TN. It opened up with
many stations and strong signals into Fla. I even worked a couple mobiles
with loops on the roof and a few stations using Halos. For the early risers
on Saturday 20th June 2009, as this is being written, I worked into Europe
after 7am with stations CN8LI, CT3FQ Madeira Island and CT3KU/p. EA's,
CU1EZ, CN8SG, and CT3DZ were also heard or worked up until about 1230z.
All this with 2 elements hanging on my 2 element tribander boom!!  And
the season has just begun!! I have a 4 element 6m Quad being built so I
can be heard a little better. 6m openings have been very thin in FN20
and this has brought out all the operators finding 6m on their new radios.
I had worked several halos, dipoles, and ground plane stations with the
band open. The real jewel during Sporatic E season is Bermuda....that
little dot in the middle of the Atlantic. I can't wait to work Ed in
Bermuda, VP9GE. It is a great thing to hear so many new DX stations on
six meters. With relaxed regulations on power and antennas, I expect we
will hear many more stations working into the U.S. at the bottom of the
sunspot cycle with one small spot showing and no C class or better solar
flares to report. For size and performance, I don't think you can beat
the Quad loop or beam. I also use a 6 element yagi pointed towards Florida
and get similar reports with just 2 elements. Four elements will just
make things easier for me. Thanks for producing the propagation and
DX reports. They are well read at this location...."
                           Yours truly,
                           Larry Lilly Sr. N3CR
                           Lehighton, Pa   FN20dv

8Q, MALDIVES. By the time you read this, Vlad, RA9LR, should will be
active as 8Q7LR from Hudhuranfushi Island, North Male Atoll (AS-013),
until July 2nd. Activity will be on 40-10 meters, mainly Digital but
with some SSB. He will be use 100 watts into a DX-88 eight band vertical.
QSL via RA9LR, direct or by the Bureau.

A35, TONGA (Update). Paul, A35RK, on Wednesday, June 17th, informed
OPDX that lots is happening in Tonga for him. He told us that "A35RK
is moving to a new QTH. On December 1st, the whole family is moving
to Vava'u (OC-064)." He will be departing Vava'u on June 27th, and
between then and December 1st, Paul will be moving back and forth
between the island groups. Paul adds, "I will get my yagi antennas
up in Vava'u ASAP, but no firm date commitment is possible. In the
meantime, it will be 100w to a G5RV, whenever I am actually in Vava'u.
I will drop the A35RK/p callsign and revert to the straight A35RK,
as soon as I make an official change-of-address notification to the
radio licensing authority. What all that means is that A35RK (OC-169)
is essentially QRT because the first shipment to Vava'u will include
all of my radio gear and all of my tools. It is highly unlikely that
I will do any more operating from Ha'apai." Paul states that he has
made 80,000+ QSOs from there over the past 13 years, and this should
be enough to satisfy the IOTA crowd." Bob, W7TSQ, will remain his
manager, and he will modify Paul's QSL cards to indicate IOTA OC-064.
Future LoTW logs will likewise be modified, as will QRZ.com info as
soon as the move is official. On a personal level, Paul states, "This
is a big move 'up' for us. The whole family is looking forward to the
improved living conditions in Vava'u (ie, better schools for the kids,
better telecom and shipping connections, better 'shopping', reliable
mains power, etc.). Please wish us luck in this new endeavor." OPDX
wishes Paul the best of luck in his new QTH.
ANOTHER UPDATE FROM PAUL: "It's official: my A35RK license address has
been changed by the Radio Licensing Officer. I will stop signing A35RK/p
immediately. All contacts with A35RK, beginning 0001z, June 18th, 2009,
will be from Vava'u Island, IOTA OC-064, grid square AH31ai. A35RK from
Ha'apai, IOTA OC-169 is QRT."

CT8, AZORES. Operators Jan/DL7JAN and Egon/DL2IX will be active as
CT8/homecall from Faial Island (EU-175) between August 21-31st. Activity
will be on 80-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via their homecall,
by the bureau or direct.

CY0, SABLE ISLAND (Update). The following was received by John, K1XN,
author of the GoList, from Randy, N0TG (edited): "A challenge for us is to
keep the weight allowance under control. The charter aircraft limits us
to 1400 pounds total weight. That includes body weight for the team (3),
personal items, equipment, antennas, computers, food, EVERYTHING. The
weight creeps upward pretty fast and must be watched carefully. It looks
like the low bands will still be very productive ones as Cycle 24 lingers.
I personally am pleased and excited to have the Battle Creek Special going
with us. There seems to be lots of interest on 160 by the EU's and others
as well. One thing that we are 'not' is experienced RTTY operators. However,
the recent few weeks we have equipped our stations with the necessary
computer interface, software, etc. and are becoming a bit more enlightend
on RTTY operation. We've made a number of contacts and are pleased to have
this set up and ready. NCDXF in particular encouraged us to include RTTY.
Web traffic continues to increase from world-wide QTH's. Certainly, we know
CY0 not one of the most rare spots..but it does look like many are looking
for it to fill in a mode/band combo, and hopefully it'll be an interesting
event and promote activity for our wonderful hobby. Thanks..we appreciate
the support; we can't express that enough!!  We look forward to working
you.                     http://www.CY0dxpedition.com
73, Randy - N0TG/CY0 and team (Murray-WA4DAN, Ron-AA4VK)"

D44, CAPE VERDE. Michel, HB9BOI, is now active as D44TOI from Sal Island
(AF-086) until June 30th. Activity over the past weekend as been mainly
20 meters SSB (around 14260 kHz), and some 17 meter SSB. QSL via his home
callsign.

DU, PHILIPPINES. Gerard, F2JD, will stay in the Philippines for the next
five months and hopes to get his DU1/G0SHN licence extended. While there
he plans to activate some IOTA islands during his stay. QSLs direct or
via the REF Bureau to F6AJA.

DXCC NEWS (DXCC Annual List Questions). Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL Awards
Manager, explains this week on the "ARRL's Century Club Awards Weblog"
<http://www.arrl.org/blog/Century%20Club%20Awards> questions that the
DXCC has been receiving pertaining to the DXCC Annual listings. If you
were wondering why your award totals were not listed, please read the
info on the above Web page before contacting the DXCC.

FT/G, GLORIOSO ISLAND. As this bulletin was being prepared, there were
no new developments announced this past week. The 2009 Glorioso FT5GA
operation still seems to be on track and scheduled for July 9-28th.

GB2, ENGLAND (Special Event). Look for special event callsign GB2RI to
be used from the "National Exhibition Centre" in Birmingham, England,
during the 100th Rotary International Convention, between June 21-24th
(0700-1700z daily). Kenwood Radio of the UK, has supplied a 200 watt
transceiver, and the local Withall ARC are providing a 100 ft. tower
topped with a 3 element yagi. Activity will be on 80-10 meters. USA
stations are suggested to watch 14293 kHz. QSL direct or by the RSGB
to G3LUW.

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN. Fred/DL5YM and his XYL Tina/DL5YL will once again be
in Masescha and will be hiking here during the daytime hours between now
and July 2nd. During the nighttime hours they will be active on CW signing
HB0/homecall on all bands. They may also be active on RTTY, if they add
an interface to their IC-725 and a 40m wire to their equipment.
