This is an enactment of a ham radio contest using voices
instead of radios and ionospheric propagation. It is modeled after the
North American Sprint contest sponsored by the NCJ (National Contest
Journal). Instead of three frequency bands, three rows of chairs are
arranged as sides of a triangle, each representing one of the three bands: 20, 40 and 80 meters. ..

Each chair represents 500 Hz of a particular band and
the CQing station is required to be seated. (CQ in ham radio parlance means
to solicit a contact with another station.) Other stations then vie to be
worked by the CQing station by shouting their own call sign and the CQing
station picks one to work. When that contact is finished, the CQing station
must leave that chair and go find another CQing station to work or an empty
chair to call CQ again. His prior chair is then occupied by the station he
just worked who becomes the new CQing station for that chair and the process
starts over again. Instead of computers, contestants log their "contacts"
with other "stations" using paper to record the band, call of station
worked, name and location (US State or Canadian call area). Final score is
the sum of all distinct locations worked on each band multiplied by the
total number of contacts across all three bands.

...Good luck in the Contest..
